The Sword from Japan (Japanese: ジパングの宝刀, Jipangu no hōtō) is the sixteenth episode of the Japanese animated/anime series, The Legend of Zorro and was originally broadcasted on August 2, 1996 in Japan.

Synopsis

Colonel Raymond decides to present a precious Japanese sword to the Governor General who is visiting the town. At the same time, the Scorpion gang plans to attack the Quenga Pass and kidnap the inhabitants of a nearby village. Zorro and Bernard come to the rescue, and free all the prisoners except one family.

The Scorpion chief tries to blackmail Zorro, demanding the precious sword in return for the release of the hostages. The story ends with Zorro emerging triumphant, and the discovery that the Japanese sword is actually a very ordinary bamboo cane.
