The Pearl of Labuan (Italian: La perla di Labuan) is the fifth episode of the first season (The Tiger of Malaysia) of the animated series, Sandokan.

Plot

Sandokan is shipwrecked off the coast of Labuan after a daring mission to steal ammunition from an English garrison. Yanez throws his magic coin called a “zuk,” into the air to determine his friends’ whereabouts, and then he and Kammamuri search for Sandokan in the forest, while Brooke and his soldiers scour every possible location for him.

Finally, Marianne, the Governor’s beautiful niece saved by Sandokan during the sinking of an English vessel, finds Sandokan unconscious on the beach and takes him to the Governor’s palace; unaware of his true identity, she falls in love with him. When Brooke returns, Sandokan (who had pretended to be a Rajah) is discovered and imprisoned by Guillonk. He then decides to tell Marianne who he really is, and that he is in love with her, so she allies herself with his cause, and devises a clever plan to help him escape.

Thanks to her nanny having drugged the prison soldiers’ tea, she helps him escape, riding on a horse. A boat is waiting out at sea to take Sandokan back to Mompracem; he then promises Marianne that he will return for her.
