The Little Goat and the Golden Crown is the first and second episodes of the first season and the first multi-part episode of the animated series, Toy Toons.

Plot[]

Part 1[]

Grandfather Goat, with the help of his grandson, is ordered by a Tiger to forge a precious golden crown, the likes of which no one has ever seen. In return for the completion of the task, the tiger has promised the goat a prize that will allow him never to have to work for the rest of his life. Grandfather Goat then asks the tiger to present him with the due prize, however the tiger has no intention of keeping his promise, and so devises an alternate strategy. The tiger next accuses Grandfather Goat of having stolen gold while working on the crown and tells him he will be prosecuted, convinced the poor goat will never be able to satisfactorily prove his innocence.

Part 2[]

The old goat is held in prison as he awaits his trial. Meanwhile, in a state of despair, the grandson continuously ponders a method whereby he can demonstrate his Grandfather’s innocence. After pondering the ramifications of the problem, he then surmises that by measuring the volume of the crown and comparing it to the volume of the ingot that had contained the gold given with which to construct the precious object that he may yet be able to vindicate his poor Grandfather.

The day of his trial, the tiger renews his accusation, and the old goat doesn’t know what he can do to prove himself innocent. Satisfied and sure of himself, the tiger next asks anyone present wishing to prove the innocence of Grandfather Goat to step forth. Surprising everybody (most of all the tiger), his Grandson steps forward and requests that a full bucket of water in which to place the empty container that had contained the gold be brought before everyone.

The grandson then manages to save his Grandfather, demonstrating that by placing the golden crown in a full bucket of water, that the overflowing water will then fill the empty gold container to full capacity effectively proving that all the gold had in fact been used in the crown’s creation and thus proving Grandfather Goat innocent. Confronted with such indisputable proof, the tiger then realises he must free him, does so, and even presents him with the prize he’d first promised as well.
